Negotiation Series

The Negotiations Series is a team-based competition where students face off on a weekly basis in 5-10 minute simulated business negotiation scenarios. Key skills are broken down and practiced by parts. Students begin with focus on proper introductions, building rapport, and needs identification. As students progress throughout the semester, the focus shifts to presenting/pitching, and objections handling ultimately leading to how to close deals. The Negotiations Series is designed to give students a rudimentary education of Sales and its various components.

Sales Seminar

PSO’s Sales Seminar is a separate, stand-alone feature that teaches students the full-suite of comprehensive sales/negotiations techniques. The educational component of the Sales Seminar is modular, and goes much deeper than the Negotiations Series. Students engage in intensive hands-on practice that drills each step of the negotiations process, and some training sessions are lead directly by industry professionals from PSO’s corporate sponsors. In the Sales Seminar, students will perform full 15-20 minute simulated business meetings and go through the process of sourcing a client to closing. Students will also drill presentation skills as well as high-intensity objections handling. A new feature to the Sales Seminar is mock interviews designed for extreme difficulty that will season our students for job interviews. Students who successfully complete the Sales Seminar will be awarded the PSO Sales Certificate and earn PSO’s Sales Certified designation.

The Sales Team

The PSO Sales Team is open to students who have graduated amongst the top of their class in the Sales Seminar. This is the highest level of achievement in PSO. Sales Team members are eligible for representing Temple University in national and international sales competitions. With this privilege comes the responsibility of performing to a competitive level. PSO Sales Team members focus on drilling and practicing various business negotiations and sales scenarios spanning a wide spectrum of prompts. While the Sales Seminar seeks to educate students on the skills of sales, the Sales Team’s main focus is preparing for competitions with the goal of winning. In addition to winning prestige and honor for the Fox School and Temple University, competitions are often staffed with recruiters from Fortune 500 companies interviewing on the spot, and involve large cash prizes for winners.
